Our Parish Our Pride
The Greater Hammond Chamber of Commerce is proud to lead a new parishwide effort to celebrate Southeastern Louisiana University – Our Parish Our Pride.
“Our Parish Our Pride is an expression of gratitude for the many ways Southeastern supports the economic and cultural health of our community by educating our young people, supporting the growth of entrepreneurship in our parish and providing jobs and investment that keeps our parish strong,” Chamber Chairman Mark Dispenza said. “We are all a member of the pride!”
“The economic engine of Southeastern, the influx of over 14,000 students into our community and the energy felt from our university all contribute to Tangipahoa. Because of this we want the students, faculty and staff of Southeastern to feel the Lion Pride from our entire parish,” said Kim Walker, chairman of the Greater Hammond Chamber’s Lion Up Task Force. “Whether or not community members feel they have a relationship with Southeastern, we hope this unified approach will encourage everyone to show their pride, their green and their gold!”
The Greater Hammond Chamber is encouraging community members to get involved by joining the Our Parish Our Pride Facebook page.
"Look for stories about students, faculty, staff, alumni and other Lion fans as well as more opportunities to Lion Up," Chamber President and CEO Melissa Bordelon said.

The Chamber continues to encourage business and community members throughout the parish to wear green and gold every Tuesday as part of Lion Up Tuesdays. Southeastern Athletics Director Jay Artigues began this initiative on campus two years ago, and the Chamber joined the effort to bring it to the community last year. Also, follow the Greater Hammond Chamber Facebook page for local businesses who sell green and gold gear.
